ABOUT US

Glass Horizon Lab was founded by Ian du Plessis, whose academic background in Ancient History and Philosophy shaped a deep and lasting commitment to research, interpretation, and critical thinking.

Through his studies, Ian developed a passion for exploring how meaning is constructed across time, particularly within Reception Studies, where he examined how societies interpret, reuse, and reshape each other’s histories and narratives. This work cultivated a nuanced understanding of perspective: how context, culture, and language influence the way people interpret the same events or ideas differently.

At its core, this intellectual approach mirrors the challenges of modern research. Much like interpreting historical texts, today’s data requires careful analysis, thoughtful questioning, and the ability to uncover patterns that are not immediately visible. The process of drawing connections, between past and present, between perspectives, and between data and meaning, remains central.

With the emergence of data science and large-scale research, a new lens has opened, one that allows for deeper, more systematic exploration of human behavior and social patterns. Recognising this opportunity, Ian founded Glass Horizon Lab to bring together rigorous analysis and human-centered interpretation.

The goal is simple, yet powerful:
to better understand the world by uncovering patterns within complex data, and translating those patterns into clear, meaningful insight.

At Glass Horizon Lab, we are committed to:

  • Broadening understanding through careful, detailed analysis
  • Interpreting diverse perspectives with depth and clarity
  • Delivering data-driven insights that reflect the complexity of real-world experiences

Ultimately, we strive to move beyond surface-level observations, providing clear, precise, and thoughtful perspectives on the realities that shape people, societies, and decisions.
